The Chosen One

When the Guardian of the Sea approached him, the Chosen One did ask, "Why did you save me?" And the great Guardian replied that he was worthy. Even with his main duty done, he deserved to live. And there was more to be done. The quarrel of the Great Mirages quelled, they were to be disseminated to their jails. The alliance of the Chosen One, the Guardian of the Sea, and the Guardian of the Sky proved enough to herd the Winged Mirages to their prisons with little trouble.

Great Articuno was to be buried under a remote island, far removed from its kin in the mountains. Great Zapdos was sealed in a tomb the neighboring wasteland of Orre, devastated in war years before. And Great Moltres was sealed within a searing volcano, trapped with its own heat until the Next Chosen One were to have freed its contemporaries. Until such a time, when the birds were Worthy to be released, their clans would have to do without their Idols, and theworld would be safe from their storms of Ice, Thunder, and Fire.

Dreams and Nightmares

Betray not your anger, lest Darkrai will come. Weep not with sorrow, or Dakrai will draw near. When joy and enjoyment come natural as the very air, that is happiness. Let such be blessed by the hand of Master Cresselia.

Magearna

And the men of Alola were fearful, as the Gods began to sleep in the wake of their battle against the Heavenly Beasts. The King demanded the creation a soldier which could stand to defend against them, though no one could. Daedalus the Doctor fashioned a metal maiden, fit for a princess, on a whim. The magick which had fashioned the great Gigant King of old was long lost, and the King despaired of a true metal soldier to be at his beck and call. Yet he was grateful for the attempt, and Daedalus's line is welcome in Alola forevermore. Magearna never was called on to do battle, however; and She and Her design have been lost.

Baitatao

In East Tandor, there lies a giant chasm in the sea. Sometimes, when sailing on the sea at night, you can see lights shining from deep from deep under the water. This is the Legendary Pokémon Baitatao.\nSome say it tries to lure unsuspecting swimmers under the water, where it steals their eyesight. Others say it wants to light the way so travelers may have a safe journey. Baitatao's heat is what keeps the sea warm, so that life can flourish within. It is wise to avoid places where the water glows at night.

Taxonomy

... In order to explain what makes something an unknown monster, we have to go over something you may have thought yourself familiar with: what defines Pokémon. Many a mysterious demon or youkai has been reported, only for it to be revealed to be a newly discovered pokémon (such as Voltorb), or even a mundane one seen through fog or otherwise obscured.

This book makes great distinction between different types of cryptids; artificial beings, unknown Pokémon, unknown animals, and truly unknown monsters. While the only qualification for a cryptid is that it is a creature that has been claimed to exist without having been conclusively proven to, it is still useful to attempt to classify such between pseudotaxons, or add them to something else entirely.

In the past Pokémon have been regarded as mythical or supernatural, but with recent advances in technology they are slowly becoming accepted as another mundane, if extremely hard to figure out, part of life. They've finally been granted their own kingdom - Electrobelia - under the new domain Electrovita. The exact origins of Pokémon life are unknown. It was once thought that they shared a common ancestor with Animalia and Fungi, but recent revelations have shown that this probably isn't the case (see: Arceus) (see: Mew).
